Holi is considered the festival of Colours, Happiness and Joy in India. We welcome the spring by celebrating the Holi festival. The festival is around the corner, as you love and adore its celebration.
Holi has a harsh impact on your skin and hair. Various synthetic colours are available in the market, packed with chemicals in them. These synthetic colours would badly damage your hair and skin. It would be better to protect your hair and skin. Few pre-holi skin and hair tips to be incorporated are :
APPLY YOUR MOISTURIZER
Moisturizer is considered as a food for your skin. Apply a good moisturizer and lather your skin before one week of Holi. This would create a protective layer on the skin and prevent from drying effects of harsh Holi colours. You can apply 3 coats of moisturizer before playing Holi, this easily removes the colour once you are done playing.
When you are out of moisturizer, use a baby oil or a lightweight, non-sticky body oil. You can apply the baby oil generously all over your body before playing the Holi. My mother used this tip when I was a kid. It easily removes the colours from your skin even when you get drenched in a coloured water.
THE USE OF SUNSCREEN
Ensure to use a sunscreen of at least 40 SPF or more. Choose the heatproof and sweat-proof sunscreen that doesn’t come off easily. You can apply the sunscreen to the bare parts of your body, neck, face and hands.
FOR NAILS
When you don’t want to attend the office or college with Holi-stained nails, apply 3 coats of transparent nail paint on your nails before going to play Holi.
PROPER HYDRATION
Colours used in Holi would dehydrate your skin. Try to keep yourself hydrated one week prior. Consume coconut water, juices, also drink plenty of water and eat fruits.
USE LIP-BALM
You can coat your lips with Vaseline or a good quality lip balm to prevent from getting chapped.
WEAR FULL SLEEVES
When playing Holi, choose clothes that fully cover your body. Use covering clothes or wear full sleeves before getting those colours on. This safeguards and shields your body by a physical barrier.
PRE HOLI SKIN CARE OIL
Shesha Ayurveda recommends Virgin coconut oil or Eladi Thailam which can be used by people for hair and skin before playing Holi . People can Just apply oil everywhere on their body, including hands, hair etc
FOR HAIRS
You can use a lightweight oil and tie your hair if you love them. Guys could wear a Holi special cap and bandana for girls to give a cool look, and also to save your hair. When you are not an oil fan, apply a leave-in-serum to your locks before heading to play. This gives your hair a layer of protection from harsh colours and damaging exposure to sun rays. Shesha Ayurveda recommends Extra Virgin Coconut Oil or Neeli Bringadi Intensive Hair Treatment oil as a Pre Holi hair care oil.
